How Can High Cholesterol And Blood Sugar Levels Be Treated?

My doctor just prescribed Lovastatin to lower my bad cholesterol levels and high glucose levels. I tried Lipitor for 9 days and had sore leg muscles, sore finger joints, mild headaches and some constipation. These side effects would wake me up in the middle of the night. I took this medication in the evening around dinner time. I took this Lipitor for 9 days and quit as I couldn t tolerate the side effects. Will Lovastatin be better for me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Since you developed muscle pain while on Lipitor, a statin that has less incidence of myositis like pravastatin will be a better option than Lovastatin.

Hope this answers your question
