How Can High Blood Pressure Be Treated?
Hello I am a 40 year old female with no insurance. Last year my doctor put me on medication for my high blood pressure called Lisinopril. I have run out of my medication for a few weeks now, almost 2 week ago I was getting dizzy spells, stomach hurted for a day and I noticed I wasn t actually talking correctly what I wanted to say wasn t actually coming out the way I wanted to say it. The last few days I ve been taking my blood pressure. Today my pressure is 153 / 106 150 / 1:05. Before then my pressure has been 142 / 97 137 / 106 144 / 102 150 / 1:05. I would like to know if is imperative for me to go to the emergency room.

According to latest guidelines of JNC 8, the cut-off value for the goal of antihypertensive treatment is 140/90 in diabetic/nondiabetic with or without renal impairment. Anything above 140/90 with medication needs to be treated. Either the dose cane be increased or the new class of antihypertensive can be added. Hope it answers ur question.
