How Can Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Be Treated?

Hi Doctor,

I have heavy menstural bleeding continously from 2 months and not stopping at all and i couldnt manage....gync suggested me to take pause XT and Pause MF and primolut N as well in the 2 months and it stopped.
It started to bleed heavily again now and its 3rd month now..plz suggest as i have to go out of station for 20 days and its bleeding heavily now...please suggest the safe medicine that reduces my heavy bleeding and to completely stops for now to travel in 3 days and i also have pcod problem too...kindly help.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. As you are under treatment from a gynecologist, thus she must have taken due consideration in taking up your case history and excluding factors for menorrhagia, thus remain under her regular supervision and observation, as to how to proceed further, I at most can let you know about the symptomwise approach:

. check with TVS [trans vaginal sonography] and pap smear test.
. check your Hb%, WBC, Bleeding disorder profile, Thyroid Function Test.

2. Regarding your present complaint of heavy bleeding, you can take medicine like tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days and If it doesn't work, you can take a high dose of progesterone to stop the bleeding after consulting with your Gynecologist.
