How Can Gingivitis Be Treated?

I have been suffering from gingivitis for quite a long time. My dentist did scaling in the lower front four teeth and upper three left canine and premolar teeth. the gums are also inflamed and loose they hardly adhere to the teeth though they have not receded. I am a PCOD patient. I want to know what should I do would the condition ever improve because only scaling does not seem to help. or what changes in the dental hygiene are required.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering not oy with Gingivitis but as the gums have receded and became loose, it can be due to progression of infection deeper leading to PERIODONTITIS..

You have not been given any appropriate treatment, not even a complete Scaling..

Consult a Periodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Panoramic x ray has to be done to check for depth of bone loss due to infection..

You can be advised deep Scaling and curettage followed by a course of antibiotics and painkillers and antiseptic gum paint massage and antiseptic mouthwash gargles..
Also do warm saline gargles..

In case if gum recession is in higher grades Flap surgery is advisable..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
