How Can Echogenic Calculi In The Gallbladder Be Treated?

Hello there, please my question is with regard to my grandmother who is 80 years of age. After several complaints of abdominal pain, several tests were conducted which was called the abdominopelvic USS. this test revealed that her gall bladder is normal in size and wall thickness but that there are multiple, gravity-dependent, echogenic calculi in the gall bladder lume. Please, what her the implications of this? She does not want to do an operation because of her age. we need to know what other alternative we might have.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. If the stones in the gallbladder are causing obstruction, then surgery will be essential.
2. If there is not much pain, then surgery is not essential. However, as she is just 83, if her lung function is good, then laparoscopic surgery needs to be done.
3. If not done, with any obstruction, which will occur in future, prognosis will be poor. Low fat diet will be helpful. Discuss with your doctor for referral to a surgeon.
