How Can Dry Mouth And Burning Sensation On The Tongue Be Treated?
Every medication prescribed to me may cause dry mouth. I also have a burning tongue and some gum pain. At times it is so bad I consider visiting the ER. If it is the medication/medications, how long after stopping medicine to get those salivary glands going. I have had a clear CT Scan of the glands and a negative lip biopsy.
It looks like due to continuous dry mouth you have developed inflammation inside mouth causing burning sensation of the tongue and gum irritation.. Continuous dry mouth can cause thinning of mucosa inside mouth and can cause ulceration and burning.. So first of all I would like to know from you which medications are you taking that can cause a dry mouth. Reducing the doses or changing the medicines can help in relieving the symptoms in a few days.. For now you can start gargling with specialised mouthwash like Magic mouthwash.. Use mouth lubricants like Oralgel.. Chew sugar free chewing gums and drink plenty of cool water.. Suck ice pops to reduce burning sensation.. Avoid spicy foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
