How Can Difficulty In Sleeping Be Treated?

Hi, I am a 59 year old white woman. I take synthroid daily for an underactive thyroid. I also take phentamine on the advice of a weight loss Dr. once daily. I take a multi vitamin, a D3 supplement and glucosamine/chondroitin supplement. I am, according to my OBGYN, postmenopausal. I took estradiol for a very short period of time, and the lowest dose possible. I have sleep apnea and have been using a C-Pap machine since 2000. I have no problem going to sleep, but I have been having difficulties staying asleep. I don t wake up due to the need to urinate. I have been looking at sleep aids that are OTC, and not addictive. I tried melatonin, not very efficacious, so I am looking at benadryl (it is helpful to have a clear nose when using a C-Pap!) and/or giving unisom a try. What is your opinion of these, in conjunction w/the other things I m taking?

Hi,

You should not depend on sleeping pills. Be physically active. Take regular morning walk. You can consult clinical psychologist for counseling and advise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
