How Can Chronic Sinusitis Be Treated?

I have an atrial heart valve problem that once was a click murmur, but now is barely, if ever heard now. I also have many allergies (environmental). So, I have chronic sinusitis. I felt my condition (the sinusitis) was be coming worse even though I use AsmanexHfa, Dymista and Proair inhaler. When this occurs, I always end up with bronchitis and need antibiotics. I called my l Internist and he prescribed a Z Pac. I was concerned when I read that those with problems with the QT prolongation. I do not think I have this problem, but just wanted some reassurance that it is okay to take the Z pac. Have done it one other time in the past and I had no problems.

1. As there is a history of earlier cardiac symptom and there is documented SP [specific precaution] of Azithromycin to be used in patients with prolonged QT interval thus I can't comment on the issue, your Cardiologist will be in better position to clarify any interaction.

PS. recent reports have suggested that Azithromycin can prolong QT interval and suppress ventricular contraction, but will not induce 'torsade de pointes', thus before starting with Z pack, consult a PHP or Cardiologist, till then

i. Avoid heavy, slimy and acidic food, curd, mustard oil, excess physical exertion, sunlight-dust areas, exposure to strong winds, day sleeping, smoking, potato, green leafy vegetables. Cold water/food
ii. Take brown rice, soup of moong dal, black grapes, cow’s or goat milk, garlic, lukewarm water to drink, black pepper, dried ginger, honey, mulethi, launga [clove]
iii. Take Raw ginger+ raw turmeric: [2 gm each] and fry in cow’s ghee [6 gm] and thereafter add 6 gm jaggery and take at bedtime [during night]
iv. As attacks are frequent take high protein diet ( egg (white), soymilk, pumpkin, squash, watermelon, peanuts, almonds, if non-vegetarian (meat) are choices, legumes, sprouted pulses/cereals, milk with protein powder

v.
- Vitamin A: helps to maintain Thymus gland which is a powerful antiviral gland: thus carrots, cantaloupe, egg yolk, apricots, pumpkin, papaya, are ideal.
- Vitamin C: is needed for proper functioning of immune system: amla is best
- Vitamin E: is a powerful antioxidant which helps to stimulate antibody production: peanuts, dried apricots, cooked spinach, taro root can be taken
- Vitamin B is important for the activity of phagocytes: eggs, cheese, pistachio, raw garlic, sunflower and sesame oil.

PS. Consult an ENT Doctor as he will be in a better position for further prognosis, but Preventive and Prophylactic treatment and Management has been provided.
