Hi & Welcome.

The lifestyle changes such as maintaining an appropriate or ideal body weight by regular exercise, avoiding fatty meals, fast and junk foods, alcohol or alcohol containing beverages, smoking, and avoiding high protein diet are the first line of treatment to lower the high blood cholesterol level.

If the lifestyle changes do not help in reducing the high blood cholesterol levels, then your treating doctor will prescribe medications like Statin which are effective in reducing the high blood cholesterol levels thus decreasing the risk of atherosclerosis and hence heart disease.

Consuming large amounts of fish or fish oils have a predominant beneficial role in reducing the high blood triglycerides level. Anti anxiety medications do not decrease the blood cholesterol levels hence not useful.

Hope these answer your queries.
