How Can Cholesterol And Glucose Levels Be Controlled With Diet?

I am 43 years old(Male), my height is 5 feets and 9 inchs, weight is 85 K. At about 10 days ago I got full chemistry of blood. In this, my Cholestrol was 295, triglycerides - 875, ALT - 71, and Glucose - 295 (Fasting). I totally controlled diet and repeated the same test after 10 days (on 16-5-2011) now Cholestrol is 230, Triglycerides - 275, ALT 72, and Glucose 189 (Fasting). Please advise whether I should control it through diet and walk or should take any medicine. And what type of diet can I use to control the above values. At present Physically I am not feeling any problem

You can't get sky high triglycerides down without medication.
Metformin not only makes one less diabetic it is thought to actually prevent diabetes from getting worse, to lower heart disease risk and probably lower triglycerides. BUt with sky high triglycerides, one will also need specific medication for that.
