hello and welcome to HCM
From your description of the rashes, they could have been caused by an allergic exposure, if the rashes started after her holiday. It could be exposure to outdoor plants, dust, pollen, pets or sun exposure. Any water activities? New food or medicines taken prior to the rash?
Another probability would be a mite or bug infestation. SInce there was history of travel, and possibly sharing space with friends or others, she could have contracted an infestation. We need to rule out scabies, which typically presents as severe itching at night. You will also see a number of tiny red bumps on the inner sides of the arms, thighs, abdomen, genitals, skin folds, between fingers and toe spaces. Look for similar complaints among contacts.
Check the bedding for possible mites, bed bugs etc.
To help the itching, she can take a daily course of anti histamines like benadryl for 5-7 days and apply a calamine or menthol lotion whenever there is itching.
Along with that, consult a dermatologist to look for signs of mites on skin or to rule out other allergies. She may then be prescribed anti parasite application overnight (like permethrin) and tablets if required. Anyone else with similar complaints will have to be treated at the same time to prevent spread.
Use an anti scabies soap bar for bath, separately.
all clothing and bed linen needs to be washed in hot water and sun dried, ironed.
These precautions are needed in case of mite infestation.
Allergies should settle with just antihistamine and soothing lotion.
Consult a dermatologist to confirm.
Hope this helps.
