How Can An Old Burn Scar On The Chest Be Removed?

When I was 18 months old I suffered severe burns on my chest when a cup of fresh tea was spilt on me, I had to have a substantial skin graft from both my inner thighs. I am 18 now and have never taken my shirt off in public due to how insecure I am about the scar that covers my entire chest. I was wondering if there was a procedure that could Normalize my chest so the scar would be gone or at least unnoticeable. I am 18 and male.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Only surgical reconstruction may be efficient for larger scars and other therapies are limited. So you should consult an esthetic surgeon for it and this may include several types of surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wish you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
