How Can An Ear Tube, Inserted To Treat Congestion, Be Removed?

Thank you. An ENT put an ear tube in to help, he said, with congestion. It s extremely painful and feels like a bee sting or else it s itchy. I can t get in to see him for another 3 weeks. Is there any way I can remove it? What would happen if I used a vacuum cleaner from a distance? Also, if I burp, it feels as though the tube is cutting into the ear. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It cannot be removed at home. There is a risk of permanent damage to the ear.

It would be best to speak to the office to see if they can fit you in earlier or try to see another ENT specialist. IF that is not an option then you may be able to see one at your local hospital.

I hope this helps
