How Can A Transient Ischemic Attack Be Treated?

my 88 year old mother who is hypertensive had what appears to be a TIA 3 days ago. I did not take her to the ER at that time since the symptoms subsided within 1 minute. I believe this was a mistake. Can I still take her to an ER to see if they can run some tests or is it too late since this occurred 3 days ago?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

In transient ischemic attack , slurred speech , weakness of body, visual loss , tingling like sign and symptoms developed as per affected brain region...

If any of these symptom present then doctor consultation needed to investigate further

Common cause is thrombosis , hence should be evaluated ..

CT angiography , EKG like investigation needed

Hence consult nearby physician for examination and further work up accordingly ...

If needed doctor will prescribe prophylactic aspirin or dipyridemol like medication with control of hypertension as well with medication

Take care

Hope this will help you
