Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I don t know what I have. A year ago I was told it was a partial tear of my Achilles tendon. I took rehab but it was not enough and I got lost in the system. It has gotten worse three-fold where I now have pain in my heel, and Achilles. It hurts almost all the time. I took an MRI on Sunday and am waiting to hear from someone about the findings. In the meantime I just bear it. I have lost my confidence and quality of life. I am not the same person. I don t know what to do.
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
From your description it seems that the tendon tear hasn't corrected by conservative measures. Get the results of MRI, If the tear still remains it is better to go for surgical correction rather than wait and watch policy. You don't need to worry regarding this because Achilles tendon repair is a minor procedure and easily done by an orthopedic. As of now immobilize your limb as much as possible and apply ice packs over the back of your heel. You can take simple analgesics like diclofenac or ibuprofen for pain. Wishing you good health. regards. Dr Shinas Hussain
