How Can A Sunburn Be Prevented?

I ve always felt sensitive to the sun and I sunburn easy. I just got lab work results that tested positive for lupus. I will not get to see a rheumatologist until next year. I have many questions. I work with children and have field trips to attend in a few weeks and I am wondering if I should go or just avoid being in the heat all together

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Certain guidelines for your case:
• No need to require to be home bound
• Always use sunscreen lotion before going to excess heat (minor sunrays as that of early morning do not require any lotion)
• Cover your body fully with preferably white, cotton, airy clothes till possible in sun (as there will be least absorption of sunrays)
• Maintain hydration levels with plenty of liquids, organic citrus fruits
• Oral intake of antioxidants, vitamin C, A supplements work empirically
• Umbrellas in extreme cases also work a lot

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
