Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I burned my tongue on hot food today and it formed a blister. Now, the skin has come off the blister and it appears that the skin is peeling off in that spot that's a little bit bigger than a pencil eraser. Is there something that I can put on my tongue over this spot that will not be harmful?
It looks like due to burning there has been formation of an ulcer over tongue and the membrane is gone now. You can apply a combination of numbing gel like Lignocaine if it is painful along with antiseptic like Chlorhexidine and steroid ointment suitable for oral use like Kenalog.. It will help in reducing pain, inflammation and will also avoid infection. You can also do warm saline gargles. Sucking ice lollies can help in reducing inflammation and pain.. You should take soft diet to avoid irritation to the area..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
