Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a painful rash in the roof of my mouth. Also pain and did comfort at the gum of several teeth. In addition, on the right side of my neck directly under my chin, I feel soreness to the touch. It feels like a gland is swollen. I have a 10 day prescription of AMOXICILLIN-CLAY 875-125 MG TABLETS. I HAD THIS FILLED ON 2/2/2017 when I had a severe cough but never took the prescription. Will it be safe to use this ti fight this type of infection of the mouth? Thank you. Rosa Davis
It looks like either you have got an allergic reaction leading to inflammation over the roof of mouth and gums or burning with any hot foods or chemicals.. Another common cause can be fungal infection in mouth.. I would not suggest you to take antibiotics without consulting an Oral Physician as in case if it is fungal infection then it can further gets worsen with antibiotics.. As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation.. You can also apply topically Lidocaine gel to relieve pain. Hold cold water in mouth for a minute and spit it off, it will absorb heat and relieve inflammation and pain.. Avoid spicy and sharp foods and take soft bland diet.. You should get an oral swab culture done to rule out the cause and then only appropriate medication can be advised.. As of now you can take symptomatic treatment as advised..
Hope this helps..
