How Can A Painful Lump Behind The Ear Be Treated?

My 4.5yr old slipped and hit her head and ear on the coffee table leaving a very blue bruised helix and a huge knot behind her ear (conchal bowl). I gave her ibuprofen for the pain and when I move the ear she grabs her next. I ve iced both the helix and conchal bowl. What else should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern
The home care you gave is all right , but the knot & pain demand more attention. You can continue with Ibuprofen syrup over thhe counter till she sees an expert.
It seems the baby has hurt her mastoid bone during the fall.she needs earliest diagnosis of type pf injury( crack fracture) / any infection set in the part( mastoiditis )- as the bone plays important role in hearing .
Please don't be scared. Early diagnosis & specific treatment would give full relief,Consult an ENT doctor.
Thanks
