How Can A Lung Be Opened Up After Water Removal?

After water was removed from my right lung the lung it could not open up because a wall had formed in the lung. My doctor says that only surgery can remove the obstruction. He also suggested doing nothing because I am not having problems breathing, I am 81 years old.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of thickened pleura and non expanding lung is more.
It is common sequale after pleural effusion.
No drugs are available for this thickened pleura.
It is mechanical obstruction.
And hence surgical removal of pleura is needed.
But this surgery is quite risky and life threatening.
So it is not recommended in asymptomatic patient like you.
So since you are asymptomatic, no treatment is required for this.
You can do chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises for lung expansion.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
