Hi, i have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Your uncle is suffering from septic arthritis. 6 week of Intravenous antibiotics (IV) is needed and than 06 week of oral antibiotic therapy is needed to clear up the infection. Sometimes if infection is not controlled by antibiotics than surgical /arthroscopic debridement of tissue is required.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
