How Can A Duodenal Ulcer Be Treated?

I was in hospital a week ago. they found bleeding duodenal ulcer. I came home with sucralfate to take 4 times a day, 1 b4 each meal & at bedtime. I handled the liquid in hospital but the pills I choke on, plus I have pain in my back I think from them. I quit taking after being home a day. I also take pantoprazole, 1 every day. I just want to know if since I am not taking sucralfate, if I can take Tums?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You can take tums but that will not heal the ulcer. Taking pantoprazole twice a day for 6 weeks could heal the ulcer.
