How Can A Chewing Gum Stuck In The Throat Be Removed?
Hello. Silly question. A couple of days I had a small piece of chewing gum that I was chewing with my incisors. As I breathed in to talk, it got sucked in. Now there are only 2 options ... oesophagus which I can poop out ... or trachea (which I m less pleased about the prospect of. It felt like it was stuck in my throat for a little while. No shortness of breath, no significant coughing over and above what I had for the preceding weeks (I have a mild persistent cough when I talk during cold weather). Later that night I was still annoyed by it. I went to the gym & rode the exercise bike for and hour. No shortness of breath. I was at work today and checked my oxygen sats (100% on room air). I m concerned I might have inhaled it. I m hoping I swallowed it. Do you have any advice to offer? Kind regards, An idiot who can t chew properly
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chewing gum stuck in the throat. Well sometimes things actually do not stuck inside throat but they make some area of throat to get swelled which appear to us as something stuck into throat . But it could pass in any wrong passages and lead to breathing difficulties.I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses , eat 1-2 banana in a day and drink warm liquids like tea and coffee . If condition doesn't improve in a 24 hours or create problems like coughing , wheezing and problem in breathing then consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may extract that thing with small instrument under local anesthesia ( laryngoscopy procedure ) .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
