How Can A Bruise On The Shin Be Treated?

I hit my shin on a bus step 3 1/2 weeks ago. Initially, I had a lot of purple bruising that has gone away. The bump where I hit has gone down, but not completely. I have had a red rash in the area. What does the rash mean and who do I get rid of it and the bump?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

*does he rash itch or hurt?
*did you apply any ointments over the bruisei?

I recommend :
-massage your injured shin with oil in the bath twice a day. Apply bearable pressure and massage in circular motion with your palm.

The bone Injury will take about 4-6 weeks to heal.
This is the bump that you feel.
If the rash doesn't itch or hurt, leave it alone and observe it. It is most likely a skin reaction to medication or friction.
If it does hurt or itch or worsens, see your doctor to check it out.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health.
