Hi Ma'am

Carotids are the main source of blood supply to the brain. If one carotid is having a 80% lesion there is fair enough chances of having some amout of obstruction in the other also. So i would like to recommend to go bilateral carotid artery Doppler done. As these obstructions develop due to the development of plaquing inside the arteries so i would also like to recommend a CORONARY ANGIOGRAM also to see the status of HEART VESSELS also as the lesion can also develop there which if left unattended can later on increase the risk of HEART ATTACK.

If your husband smoke then he need to quit smoking now as smoking is associated with increased growth rate of plaquing.

Yes 80% do qualify for intervention.

Good Luck
