How Can A Bacterial Infection In The Vagina Be Treated?

I had to go to prompt care because my lady bits were irritated. I ended up having a bacterial infection and was prescribed the oral form of Metronidazole that I took twice a day for 7 days. It didn’t work so I went to my regular OBGYN and she prescribed Metronidazole in the gel form that I inserted every night for 5 nights. It still did not work. I then was prescribed another oral antibiotic called Clindamycin, again it didn’t work. I then was prescribed another round of the same antibiotic paired with a probiotic RePhresh. I decided to take a break from all the antibiotics for a couple of months but continued to take the probiotic. Things have felt somewhat better but I still do not feel like normal. I’m not sure what to do or what direction to take from here.

General Surgeon 's  Response

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query.
I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
These symptoms and signs are suggestive of STD especially if there is associated pain, fever, urethral discharge and recent sexual intercourse. So this is the first thing to rule out by doing STD testing. Second, it may be sign of uroinfection or urinary stones and some other genital infection but this is less common. In every case, antibiotic therapy may be required so test should be done as soon as possible so that appropriate treatment can be started. Till that try to drink plenty of fluids, avoid sexual intercourse and rest.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
