Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm a 25 year old female. 5'6" 110lbs. Excercise daily and eat healthy. Today I checked my heart rate on one of those machines at CVS and my resting heart rate was 102 bpm. Should I go see a dr? How can I lower my heart rate? My blood pressure was normal.
Hello and thank you for using HCM. I carefully read you question and i understand your concern. Dont worry. Its nothing serious. The normal heart beat during a resting state is between 60-100 beat for minute. So, you should not worry if your heart catches sometimes 102 beat for minute. It is not normal if your mean frequencies during all day are high and if you feel any symptom like dysphnea, anxiety ore palpitations. A simple sinus tachycardia, meaning frequencies over 100 beat for minute might have different reasons from simple emotional stress to anemia, hyperthyroidism ect. So, my opinion as a cardiologist is that you should not worry for a simple occasion. If this persist and bothers you i suggest you to have some simple examinations like a blood analyses, an electrocardiogram, echo-cardiograph and a holter rhythm monitoring to chek up your mean frequencies during day and night. Mean time avoid coffee products because they rise your frequency. Hope I was helpful. Best regards.
