You should not be taking blood pressure when you have no idea how to use it.
You have to listen for the pulse through the stethescope. Put the blood pressure cuff around his upper arm. Place the stethescope on the crook (bend) of the arm. Begin to pump and release when you no longer hear the pulse beating through the stethescope. That's the high number. Release the pump SLOWLY and listen carefully for the return of the pulse beat. When you hear it again, that's the low number.
120/80 is a normal range.
