How Can HIV Or STD Be Confirmed After Unprotected Intercourse?
I am concerned as I am away on travel and had sexual intercourse with a man. Whilst we used protection I woke up to find him on top of me and later realized he hadn't used protection. I'm paranoid he may have HIV or some other disease is there anything I can do?
Hello This is for your information: HIV infection is predominantly sexually transmitted disease world wide. HIV has been demonstrated in the SEMINAL FLUID both within infected mononuclear cells and in the cell free state. There is a strong association of transmission of HIV with RECEPTIVE ANAL INTERCOURSE , probably because only a thin , fragile rectal mucous membrane separates the deposited semen from potentially susceptible cells in and beneath the mucosa and trauma may be associated with ANAL INTERCOURSE . Anal douching and sexual practices that traumatize the rectal mucosa also increase the likelihood of infection ( all these parameters apply on you ). Yes now get in P 24 rapid nucleic acid amplification test as early as possible . Antibodies to HIV begin to appear within 2 weeks of initial infection ( after 2 weeks of anal intercourse in your case)> Hope this will help you.
