How Can GERD Be Treated?

On 12/4, I underwent a very successful surgery that involved the severing of the muscle that surrounds my esophagus. The operation resulted in my ability to swallow solid foods something I haven t been able to do for 6 or 7 years. The only negative, I am experiencing much more GERD than prior to the surgery. Will this condition improve over time?

hi sir/mam,the incidence of GERD after hellers myotomy(the surgery which you had) is about 20%.i would like to know if it is laparoscopic or open surgery.laparoscopic ones has got less incidence of GERD(it may occurs many years after surgery.i think you need to consult the operating surgeon and report the same.after thorough examination and necessary investigations,he can decide if any pneumatic dilatation or anterior fundoplication procedure is required.hope my explanation is clear.also a swallow study is performed on the next day of surgery to check for any leakage from esophagus at surgical wound site.hope you understand the importance of examination by a doctor in person.thank you.any other health issues, kindly let me know.take care.bye.
