Hi! I m a ridiculously athletic white male, 6', 164 lbs who works out 7 days a week: gym; cycling (40-50 miles on Sat/Sun); Pilates (2 times a week); and rollerblading (5-10 miles twice a week)...that is the GOOD news, the bad, as just confirmed by an Ortho doc here in Vegas is my right hip is now 'bone on bone' due to 3 consecutive traumas to it in '95 when I was learning how to skate...osteo set in and, during the last decade, things have gotten to the point ther r now...I want to have the anterior hip replacement surgery ASAP but the surgeon I met with (who does lumbar work), says I m not in any 'danger' but would only suggest a well-respected surgeon IN IRVINE CA (321 miles away)....what can I do about this? Could I have the work done in SoCal, do the immediate rehab there, and then return to Vegas? And how much impact to my athletics can I expect once I recover from the surgery? Is blading out? Thanks....Marty Solomon
