History Of Taking Medication Of Floumizin, Funzela, Iterax For Vaginitis During Pregnancy. On Folic Acid, Duphaston, Duvadilan. Harmful Effects On Baby?
Good Day.
My last menstrual period was July 4 or 5...last July 25 i went to the doctor to help me prescribed medicine for my vaginitis. She then prescribed FLOUMIZIN 6 pieces, FUNZELA 1 piece and ITERAX 5 pieces. After a week i went back and she gave me metronidazole (FLAGYL) 14 pieces.. later i found out im 6 weeks pregnant. i have miscarriage once but that was 5-6years ago..i went to my ob-gyne and give me folic acid 30 pieces, duphaston 60 pieces, and duvadilan as necessary..i only took 5 duphaston and never tired duvadilan..now im 2 months pregnant and so worried about those vaginitis medicine ive took.. are they harmful to my baby? thank you sooo very much.
hello, do not worry. all medications taken in the first trimester should be carefully weighed against the potential adverse effects on the fetus. however if the medications are taken during the very early phase of pregnancy, that is before 6 weeks then the chances of the pregnancy being affected are very less. they are however not zero either. I think you can continue with your pregnancy and get trimester screening done subsequently. all the best
