Hi there,

Thank you for choosing HCM.

Have you been taking any particular medication for your anxiety. At times, some of the medications can cause this type of side effect and may cause you to have low energy and excessive sleepiness and you can discuss with your doctor regarding change of the particular medication.

Also,
I would like you to answer the following questions:

1. Have you had feelings of sadness or felt low or depressed?
2. Have you lost interest in the things that gave you pleasure before or have no interest in social activities that you enjoyed before?
3. Do you sleep excessively much more than before or do you find yourself difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
4. Do you feel like you are eating much more than usual or have lost your apetite?
5. Do you have feelings of guilt or worthlessness?
6. Have you been feeling excessively tired or have little or no energy?
7. Do you find it difficult to concentrate on things that you enjoyed?
8. Have you been talking more slowly or moving more slowly than usual or felt like talking or moving fast all the time?
9. Have you had thoughts or ideas of harming or hurting yourself or others?

If you have have experienced more than 5 of these 9 symptoms mentioned above or if you are experiencing the last symptom alongwith those you mentioned in your question, then you need to be seen by your doctor or a psychiatrist soon as you maybe suffering from depression and you need to be treated immediately for the same.

The psychiatrist will suggest ways to handle your emotions as well alongwith starting some medications if needed.
You can start by talking to someone you can confide in and having them accompany you to the doctor.

Don't be disheartened by your symptoms, if managed effectively by counseling and if needed medications, then you can overcome them.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes for your health.

Regards,
Dr. Sumeet.
