High Monocyte And Eosinophil Count With Breast Cancer And Hypothyroid

I am a 50yr old female and I have hypothyroid, breast cancer , and fibro just to name a few. I had a bilateral mastectomy 6/23, and removal of my gallbladder at the same time. My surgeon ordered cbc w/dif and these were the abnormalities: platelets 665, alk phos. 195, rbc 3.57, hemo 11.0, hematocrit 34.2, mpv 5.8, lymph 19,mono 11, and EO 7. I am wondering if this could be a bone marrow problem, or something else. I know it points to anemia but Im just wondering if something is going on with my bone marrow. Your thoughts?? I don t believe I have any vitamin deficincies, but with high alk phos, platelets and low rbc, Im inclind to go the bone marrow route. Thanks!

Hi
Welcome to HCM
Read your prob, high monocyts n eosinophis are due to chronic infalamatory condition like breat cancer n opration so do not bother about it. like this there is no significans of high platlets count it happen due to hemoconstriction. so there is no need of bone marrow examination.

Pediatrician, Infectious Diseases Dr. Hema Yadav's  Response
Hello
welcome to HCM.
High ALP, High platelets may point to increase marrow activity but not necessarily . Before thinking about rare causes it is better to rule out common causes like anemia .A coulter count of cbc may not always reflect the blood picture as much as a peripheral smear, which can show morphology and abnormalities of rbc, wbc and platelets. So before coming to any conclusion repeat a peripheral smear and serum calcium and later if suggestive vitamin b 12 and iron studies. Hope I could help you.
Thanks
