Hi thanks for posting your query on Healthcare Magic
There are many risk factors for coronary artery disease( heart dis/heart attack) like diabetes, high blood pressure, lipid disorder(high cholesterol, high TG,lowHDL), family history, smoking, less physical activity few are modifiable and few are not.
Presence of risk factors increases the chances of disease but it may happen without risk factors. Same way person having risk factors not necessarily will have disease. There is genetic determination also. So how to conclude..Try to modify risk factor to minimize risk and keep watch to detect disease by frequent check up clinically as well as laboratory screening test
Doctor experienced in diabetes know very well how frequently and what tests to be done to detect heart disease and what are action should be take if we find in very early stage
Unfortunately your partner is having some of risk factor and few are modifiable so seriously gradually and persistently modify them in favorable situation and be in follow up with physician or diabetes specialist
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries
