Heavy Bleeding With Clots. Became Anemic. Is There Anything That Can Be Done?

I am 49 and have had regular periods most of my life, lately I have missed 2 months and have now been bleeding heavy with lots of clots for two weeks. I have had a ultrasound recently and have small fibroids , but my Dr says its nothing to be concerned with. In the last year my period has changed to every three weeks and my blood test have reveled that I am anemic.

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having menopause started.
During this time due to hormonal imbalance this problem is there.
Due to loss of blood due to heavy period you might be having anemia.
Take branded Iron capsules with B.complex and folic acid for 1-2 months.
Ok and take care.

OBGYN Dr. Rhea Chanda's  Response
Hello,
You are peri-menopausal. Your bleeding pattern will be erratic till you achive menopause. This kind of bleeding is common before menopause. If you have small fibroids, i agree with your doctor, no need for any intervention. With menoapause, small fibroids will degress. Start taking iron supplementation.
