Heart Rate Abnormal, HDL And LDL Abnormal, Pre Diabetic. Taking Lipitor. Will Physical Exertion Hurt Heart?

Question: riding above my maximum heart rate zone for 45-60 minutes.
Medical history: I'm 60 and in very good health and eat a balanced diet. I take Liptor and my numbers are very good but I am still upside down with the HDL/LDL ratio. I am pre-diabetic and I watch what I eat.
In five years of retirement, I ride the tandem with my wife 20 miles 2-3 times a week. Twice a week and sometimes three, I ride my road bike 35-50 miles with the boys. I hydrate and have energy. The charts calculated max rate is 160 with the desired max training rate @135). The last 45-60 minutes of our ride is on a flat trail with a headwind so we hit it hard and my heart rate is up at 145-152 for almost an hour. (I know it is about 20 beets above "my max target training rate". I can still kind of talk and never have any pain. Am I hurting my heart?
Thank-you in advance, Rick

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The rates are statistical predictions / and have deviations in individuals...
Autonomic nervous system instability may account – especially in diabetics...
One ought to make sure, it is normal rhythm and not an arrhythmia... Documentation by Holter monitoring helps
With regular exercise, the rates ought to go down!

With ‘pre-diabetes’, you should aim for LDL of 70 or less / stepping up the statin and/or adding ezetimibe can help

Discuss with your cardiologist

Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
Good luck
