Headache Since Had Colonoscopy. Taking Lyrica, Diclofenac For Chronic Back Pain. Cholesterol Is High, Had Open Heart Surgery

My 50yo husband had colonoscopy 2 weeks ago today. Results were textbook perfect not even a polyp found. However he has had an excruciating headache ever since. He's not one to get headaches much less consistent like this. Could it really still be from that procedure or coincidence? What could it be? Nothing is working to reduce the pain. I should provide some history: he has been taking Lyrica and Diclofenac combo for most of this year which finally relieved his chronic back pain. and he was recently told his cholesterol is high. He had open heart surgery when he was 8 to correct a murmur. No problems from that. His bp fluctuates but has been normal the last few visits.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post is not related to colonoscopy.
As your husband has a past history of Cardiovascular disease, headache can be due to:
1. Tension headache
2. Migraine
3. Cluster headache
4. Sinusitis

Management involves:
1. Paracetamol (500 mg to be taken thrice a day) for symptomatic relief.
2. Antibiotics based on culture & sensitivity reports.
3. Steam inhalation
4. Antihistamines like Allegra can also be used.

So, kindly consult your General Physician & start treatment.
Investigations like complete blood count & X ray of para-nasal sinus will be helpful.

Wishing him a good health.
Take care.
