Having severe pain in my knee after an accident while playing. Cannot lift or bend it. Treatment?

Playing football I went up for a header an went over the top of someone. I landed on the top of my knee and it felt like I jarred it. I ran it off and it wasn't hurting until after the game. Now the next morning I'm in severe pain in the inside of my knee I'm struggling to put any wait on it and also can't lift it. It's painfull to both straighten and bend it and there's no obvious swelling ?

Cardiologist Dr. Anantharamakrishnan's  Response
Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

See an orthopaedician
Have an X-ray to exclude fracture.
If there is nothing, soft tissue injury is responsible - ligament, capsule, muscle, haematoma...

In the mean time -
Rest to the part (Splinting if necessary & avoiding weight bearing) is important
Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs like ibuprofen reduce pain & inflammation
Cold compress in first days / later warm compress - help

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
