Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Relapse of typhoid fever is seen in children.

But relapse should be confirmed by appropriate investigations and correlating the reports with his clinical symptoms.

Give typhoid booster vaccination once in every three years.

Hygiene of hands is important.

If the child is having relapse, it should be treated appropriately with antibiotics.
Consult the pediatrician for further advise.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Typhoid is caused by S.typhi which is strictly a human pathogen and is spread by food, water or faeces.Recurrence of typhoid at a frequency mentioned by you is very rare.S.Typhi is notorious for carrier state and carrier state is an important source of infection.Your problem could be result of any of the following reasons.
I would like to know if it was really typhoid on each of those situations and whether it was confirmed by serological tests, blood culture, stool culture etc.
The correct antibiotic may not have been taken for the full duration ,and residual infection may have flared up.
Widal test which is is the serological test for typhoid is non specific and may be positive after vaccination also. That could also be a reason for your positive test.
If it is none of the above then thorough cause for reduced immunity need to be carried out.
