Having Problem In Controlling Bladder And Developed Cold Sores In Lip And Nose After Teeth Cleaning. History Of Lyme Disease

I have had Lyme disease many years, probably since 1988. Got a tick in 2008, tested positive for Lyme, Babesiosis, and later Bartonella and protomyxzoa. I will turn 94 in March, 2014, (God willing). Do not tolerate a lot of antibiotics and the Cowden protocol seems to be working. Two problems currently: problems with bladder control -- sometimes a real problem, not just minor -- and recently my dentist spent about an hour cleaning my teeth below the gum. The following day I developed lip and nose cold sores and peeling skin on lips. I also have a small ulcer at gumline between two teeth that does not heal. It will be 4 weeks on Mon. (12/3) when he worked on that spot. I suspect something else got stirred up. Dentist is NOTLyme-Literate. Any advice?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
Sir, I red your history given here and as a Doctor I would say that your Lyme disease history is nothing to do with your present complain the bladder control is geriatric problem and the most probable cause would be prostrate gland, if I would be your Doctor then I would definitely send you for prostrate usg examination and if found large prostrate then would treat it accordingly right now drink less amount of water, means do not drink more water in one time divide it in three to four part in hours till you decide for ultrasonography for your other problem it will be okay no need to worry about it have nice day.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
After a long dental procedure, getting cold sores and peeling of skin in surrounding area is a known after effects, specially in those people who have loose underlying tissue due to old age or some other causes. You may need to use some ointment containg Zinc oxide. If ulcer between teeth is due to that procedure, and painful or infected, you may need to apply oral paste combination which contains Antibiotic and Local Anaesthetic medication. You should also take Folic Acid , which helps in mucosal healing. If you have done all above measure, and not getting well, you must see Medical practitioner.
I do not think that it is due to chronic effect of Lyme Disease. For your bladder control, you must see a urosurgeon, who can rule out any prostatic cause for urinary symptoms. If cause cannot be detected, it could be due to general loss of muscle strength of urethra due to old age. You need to do some exercises for muscle tone. besides that, try to drink water in small quantity but frequently, and avoid drinking water 3-4 hours before sleep, avoid coffee, other beverages. I have tried to answer you depending on history given by you, but if you will see the Doctor personally, he or she may give you further specific advice. However you are welcome for any other query.
