Having pain in left side of stomach under ribcage while breathing, diarrhea. What to do?

Why does the left side of my stomach underneath my ribcage hurt so badly when i breathe? It hurts no matter how I am sitting or laying down. I already have used the bathroom, no diarrhea or anything just a normal time. I have no idea what it is but i may have slept funny on it I m not sure, but it feels like getting stabbed in the stomach every time I take a breath in.

Hi Chasemess,
Thanks for writing your query.

In addition to muscular pain, your pain can be due to increased acidity and gas production.

You can follow some precautions like :-
1. Avoid spicy/oily foods.
2. Donot miss a meal.
3. Avoid mental/emotional stress.
4. Drink lots of pure water, atleast 8-10glasses of water in a day.
5. Donot self medicate especially pain killers and steroids.
6. Avoid gas forming foods like peas, legumes, cabbage, etc.

You can take antacid like Omeprazole 20 mg once a day with Domperidone 10 mg.

If the problem persists, get yourself examined by yoiur doctor.
I hope this is helpful to you.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Priya S K's  Response
Thanks for coming to HCM. The pain can be due to any cause arising from local muscle pull, liver, gall bladder, right lower lung, or pancreas. Please visit your local doctor who will do physical examination and might order ultrasound of abdomen to find the possible cause. Meanwhile, you can take paracetamol for pain.
Wish you get better soon!
