Having Noticed A Open Sore After Peeling Off Hard Skin From Foot

I pulled ain t of hard skin off the heel of my foot which left me with an open sore bit. Have just noticed a red line coming from the sore bit across the front of my foot and stops at the bottom of my leg. Can I leave it for a couple of days to see if it goes away?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
An open sore after removal of the hard skin leaves the sore open and prone to infections.
The open sore is prone to dehydration due to loss of fluids.
Thus the open sore should be covered by sterile dressing.
The sore should not be disturbed and allowed to heal till the sore is covered by new skin.
The sore should be prevented from developing infection.
The red line could be extension of the sore.
In case infection develops you need to use a topical ointment as well as oral antibiotic.
You need to consult your doctor in case of infection.
Features of infection are redness, pain and/or collection of pus in the sore.

Thanks and take care
