Hi! thanks for posting your query on HCM!

Well, this is a common clinical presentation in my clinic and as per my experience of histopathology or biopsy confirmation of lumps with pain at the nape of neck region, I must suggest few possibilities:

1. a sebaceous cyst 50% possibility

2. an abscess 20% possibility

3. lymphatic cyst or enlarged lymph node: 20% possibility

4. benign tumor or tumor-like conditions like neurofibroma 9% possibility

5. parasitic cyst 1% possibility

Therefore, it should be investigated immediately and you must not neglect this but get it to some doctor forthe tests you already mentioned for confirmation of the diagnosis and to relieve your concerns!

regards,
