Having Mucous Stuck In Throat. Brown In The Mornings. No Sore Throat. What Could It Be?

I was sick ( cold ) about a year ago. Since then I have really thick mucus . I feels like its coming from my sinuses, then gets stuck in my throat. I have to snort, then spit it out. Throughout the day it s clear, or green, but in the morning it s brown. Just a little. It s exactly the same as the snot I blow out my nose with exception to the small amount of brown in the morning. No sore throat , and I don t feel sick. I chew tobacco, and have never smoked. Any ideas?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
You need to consult an ENT specialist for---
1. examination of nose and throat
2.Get done CT scan of nose and paranasal sinuses to see for the presence and extent of disease
3.Get done nasal endoscopy for direct examination of nose and to see for the disease.
After this treatment can be planned to first start with medical management and if required the need for steroids to settle the acute inflammation and antibiotics and decongestants.
Then surgical can be planned if required.

It seems that you might be having chronic sinusitis giving this problem.
Go for x-ray Para Nasal Sinuses for having sinus infection.
Go for Vicks vapor inhalation.
Avoid cold drimks and junk food.
Ok and take care.

ENT Specialist Dr. Hariom Sharma's  Response
Hi,
I had gone through your query , it suggests that you are suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis. For exact management you need to require the CT scan of Paranasal sinuses.
For the initial treatment you may take the antibiotic course ( combination of amoxillin and clavulinic acid), nasal decongestant and nasal douche after consulting with ENT specialist.

Thanks
Dr Hariom Sharma
