Having Knee Pain. No Swelling. Cause?

60 yrs/ male/ non smoker/ Knee pain
I am not having problems with my bones, rather with my tendons and ligaments associated with my right knee.
Lifting, lowering, or movement after a period of being idle results in dull, long (length-wise) discomfort. No swelling has ever been visible and this pain has been lasting for over 16 months.
