Having Dull Constant Pain Under Right Rib Cage. Should I Be Concern?

I have had a dull constant pain under my right rib cauge for three days. It has kept me up at night also. It also hurts more when I push on it... It is just under my (R) rib cauge on the right side. Do you think I should be concerned and what if anything do you think I should do... Wait to see if it goes away or seek examination now Thanks, Eric

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the question.
An intense pain below the rib cage could either be of abdominal, cardiac or pulmonary origin. Depending on the clinical presentation, an orientation to do specific paraclinical exams that could help in the diagnosis could be done. The first exam the has to be after the physical examination shall e a chest X ray. Other symptoms live fever and cough could be good orientating parameters in knowing the actual cause.
I suggest you take an appointment with your GP,
Thanks and best regards,

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,

Dull constant pain under right rib cage is usually due to either liver or gall bladder.
I would suggest getting this evaluated by a physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
He/she may advice you for the following :-
1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
2. Liver Function Test (LFT)
3. Serum Amylase
5. Serum Lipase
6. Ultrasound upper abdomen

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful
