Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Having Degenerative Disc Disease. MRI Shows Anterolisthesis, Retrocelisthesis, Multilevel Facet Anthopathy, Spinal And Neural Foraminal Stenosis. Indications?
I have DDD and it has progressed to the point that I can barely walk when I first awake in the mornings. I have to pull myself to my feet and the first several steps I often falter and almost fall. It feels like I have overworked the muscles of my legs and they won't function. After 10-15 minutes of faltering my legs finally "stretch out" and function. Anytime during the day that I sit for longer than 30 minutes I go through the same thing. A recent MRI shows anterolisthesis at L-4-L-5; retrolisthesis of L-5 on S-1; multilevel facet anthopathy advanced at L-4-L-5; and spinal and neural foraminal stenosis..... WHAT DOES ALL THAT MEAN???? I can't find definitions on-line. I wanted to understand it better so I would know what to ask my physician at my appointment.
Hi,Dear.Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC. Your MRI reports are suggesting that in your backbone the part which lies in the lower back is having sliding of the bones one over another at two places, due to which your spinal cord (or i can say the bundle of nerves )is getting huge amount of pressure. Also your spine is showing that the joints in b/w the two bone have also been degenerated due to which the movements at your backbone are painful. There is also some slipped discs which are putting pressure over your nerves due to that you are having pain, stiffness and numbness in your lower limbs. Over all your backbone is in a bad condition and you should ask your doctor about how much the bones have moved from their place. He will probably suggest you a surgery to stabilise your spine .You should not ignore your problem at all because its progression may lead to serious effects. Its better you see your GP soon. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
