Having Cold And Cough Why Do I Spit Blood With Mucus?

Hi, I've been sick for about 3 days now. Just a small cold and a sore throat. Mild runny nose. Not too bad, but when yesterday I felt sometime in my throat and when I coughed and tried to spit it out in the sink what what out was a big rubbery like mucus with some blood in it. And today just now, I blew my nose and it happened again. Right after it happned, my sense of smell improved. What is it? Should I be concerned?

Hello

You should not be concerned much as blood with mucous can be due to infection and crust formation.

Primarily you can take analgesic with anti-inflammatory like enzomac plus.
Avoid exposure to strong wind. Do betadine gargles.

Consulting your doctor site of infection can be confirmed, usually there can be involvement of lower respiratory tract, antibiotic can be started according to examination.

If required you may need to do blood investigation for prognosis and recovery.

If blood in sputum persisted then further investigation need to be done.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
