Having Atrial Fibrillation, First Degree Heart Block, irregular Heart Beat. Taking Aspirin And Verapamil Twice Daily.Worried About Irregular Heart Beat?
I already have afib and first degree heart block and now have a new problem, irregular heart beat, and I am on 325 mgs of aspirin and take 160 milgrams of verapamil twice daily and I'm on a Holter monitor. We are trying to get to the bottom of the problem, but every time I have an irregular heart beat, (about one every 60 sec.s ) it makes me super sick. I'm just tired of feeling sick. Don't know why this is happening....I 've been losing weight and in an exercise program.
Dear Sir/Madam Thanks for writing to us. There a number of contradictions in your narration of the problem. If one has Afib it automatically means that pulse is irregular. Neither we can diagnose first degree heart block in such a case nor there will be irregularities like 1 in 60 secs. So something is missing. Anyway, If you ever had loss of consciousness/ blackout/ unexplained fall, you must see your cardiologist on priority. Since you are now on holter it will give us a lot of information. I hope you must have undergone cardiac ultrasound or ECHO by now to rule out any structural heart disease. At times drugs used for weight loss may be associated with certain type of arrhythmias. Sincerely Sukhvinder
